THE MODEL
The Research-led Incubation Model is an innovative framework by CIE IIIT-H, designed to integrate startups more deeply with IIIT-H’s research, faculty, and labs. The incubator is built to support startups that aim to turn cutting-edge research into real-world solutions. Startups engaging with research are not only encouraged, but actively supported through structured collaboration pathways, mentorship, and access to institutional IP.
This model helps startups build better products, faster—while also reducing their incubation costs based on their level of research engagement.

How Startups Can Engage and Save
Startups at CIE IIIT-H can optimize their incubation fees by meaningfully engaging with research, faculty, and the institute. Each activity earns points
The more you engage, the less you pay. Here’s how you can earn them.
Startups that actively engage with research and academia in any of the above forms can receive financial support from CIE.
Each activity in above table may get the startups 50-100 points per year.
Note
Startups earn points based on their type and depth of engagement.
Earning points each year makes a startup eligible for discounted fees (can go upto as low as ₹2.5K/month/seat).
Less or no engagement = full fee of ₹10K/month/seat.
Alums and students will get additional support.

Research Connect
The Research Café facilitated connections between innovative startups and research faculty. The speed-dating format allowed for quick introductions and discussions, often leading to long-term collaborations
Product Co-Creation
CV(Creating ventures) Labs a two-week intensive Research-led Co-Creation program for startups to work closely with IIITH faculty and research teams.
Academic Connect
The Research Round Table at CIE IIITH bridged the gap between technology and research through focused mentoring sessions with deeptech startups and faculty.
