CIE brings to our Deeptech community,
Fire Up Founder Insights series 6th edition, hosted by our COO, Mr. Ramesh Loganathan. The series is brought to you as a part of Startup Gyan Blog series by CIE-IIITH where we feature our founders and talk about their Startup status and the journey so far through conversation on specific topics useful for other Deeptech startups and the community at large.
In Conversation with Vishal, founder DeScign:
The idea came while doing his PhD which was based on automating biological experiments and then developed into DeScign.
“The way we do Biomedical research in present is sort of broken. We need different tools to make it efficient”
DeScign is building tools to enable researchers to accelerate their research through analysing the scientific publication on internet. The platform is designed to help researchers automate their experiments without the need to learn programming, basically making research efficient and reproducible.
“There are over 2 million new research publications happening every year; for a researcher to stay on top in terms of information and what results have already been achieved, it is necessary to automate the process. You cannot possibly read all the papers published related to what you are working on”
The AI helps in the search(through NLP and Deep learning) for all the relevant work published in different journals and give information critical for starting off the new work. The information, for example in case of Covid-19, covers the type of diseases, virus strain, tests done along with the set conditions, parameters considered for experiments etc.
The Startup is in the product development stage and is working to add more features to the tool for faster and easier access to information. The fully developed product is expected to launch in another two months.
Founder’s Mantra:
Work with the best people to build a robust product.
Watch the complete interview for use cases of the product and food for thought!
Keep watching this space for more under Fire Up Series.
Stay safe and sound!
