An idea can be very clear in your mind, but explaining it to someone else can be difficult. You may draw a picture, add notes, draw arrows, and explain it again and again. But sometimes, a flat picture is simply not enough.
Think about an engineer designing a machine, a student making a science model, or a company creating a new product. They may know exactly what they want to build, but someone looking at a drawing may still find it hard to understand the shape, depth, or different parts of it.
This is the problem that Dynadio, an innovative startup incubated at CIE, IIIT Hyderabad, is setting out to solve. What if you could show an idea instead of asking someone to imagine it? What if a 3D concept could be seen from different sides and understood more easily?

The name comes from Dynamic Diorama, and the venture is fundamentally changing the way we view 3D concepts. The team has developed a new way to make physical 3D displays using a special material called viscoelastic material. This material has unique properties that allow the display to take and hold different shapes.
The process starts with a 3D design on a computer. Think of it as a digital model of an object that you can look at and turn around on a screen. This design can be saved as an STL file, which is simply a file that stores the shape of a 3D object.
Our incubated startup uses this digital design to create a physical 3D display. Instead of looking at the model only on a screen, people can see it in front of them and look at it from different angles. This can make an idea much easier to understand.
Their work is closely linked to physics. The founder, Gaurav Mukherjee, comes from a physics background and believes that physics is an important part of technology. This thinking can be seen in the way the team uses materials and physics to create a new way of showing 3D ideas.

Instead of showing only a picture of the product, through this dynamic box it can be displayed as a 3D model. The same box could also be used to show different product designs, logos, or ideas at different times.
The same idea could be useful in classrooms, research labs, exhibitions, and marketing. A teacher could use it to explain a difficult topic. A researcher could use it to show a model. A company could use it to present different products or designs.
We are proud to have this innovative venture as part of our CIE, IIIT Hyderabad ecosystem, supporting the team as they take their vision forward. Their prototype was also showcased at our recent Demo Day, giving the community a chance to see the technology in action.
